Client: Vatic Pro, a Southern California-based maker of competition-grade pickleball paddles built from raw carbon fiber Project type: Product launch teasers and short-form social content Deliverable: A series of 3D animated teaser videos produced over multiple product launches
The Brief
Vatic Pro came to Quince Creative ahead of an upcoming paddle launch, looking for a 3D video “teaser” to highlight the product’s standout features and give it an appealing, premium look for their website and social channels. They’d found Quince Creative’s portfolio and reached out directly, referencing their own site to give context on the brand: a performance-focused pickleball paddle company competing on both quality and price.
After reviewing Quince Creative’s showreel, the client asked about more affordable options, since their initial idea was closer to a full one-minute commercial. Once they clarified they really just needed something shorter, in the 15 to 30 second range, the two sides landed on a scope that fit both the budget and the “quick teaser” goal.
Scoping and Kickoff
Once the direction was set, Quince Creative asked the client to prepare a script along with any brand materials, logos, and product files to include. Vatic Pro came back with a draft script reflecting their vision for the video, along with a full set of print-ready product files and brand assets for their paddle lineup, giving the production team everything needed to represent the products accurately from the start.
Production
With the script and assets in hand, Quince Creative moved into producing the first teaser video for the paddle launch. This initial project set the pattern for the relationship: the client provided clear creative direction and complete source files, and Quince Creative handled the animation and execution from there.
An Ongoing Relationship
What stood out about this project wasn’t just the first deliverable, it was what came after. Around six months later, Vatic Pro returned with a new request: a very short teaser, just 5 to 10 seconds, for a new paddle design. The brief was simple and specific, an animated look at the new paddle with some added smoke effects, timed to about 7 seconds.
Result
Across more than a year, Vatic Pro came back to Quince Creative three separate times: for an initial launch teaser, for a follow-up short-form teaser on a new product, and finally to retrieve production assets from their first project for their own use. Each engagement was handled quickly and without friction, and the client never had to re-explain their brand or re-establish trust, the working relationship simply picked back up each time.
Why It Worked
- A well-defined starting scope. Right-sizing the first project (a short teaser instead of a full commercial) matched the client’s actual budget and needs instead of over-selling a bigger deliverable.
- Client-supplied creative direction. A draft script and complete brand and product files up front meant less back and forth translating the client’s vision into production.
- Fast, low-friction turnarounds on small asks. Short teaser projects and quick asset requests were handled with the same responsiveness as the larger original project, which kept the client coming back for smaller, ad hoc needs.
- Treating past project files as a client asset. When the client asked for source files from a project completed a year earlier, Quince Creative retrieved and delivered them without resistance, reinforcing that the client’s files and their trust were both taken seriously.
